2009 Concerts

Forgotten Freight performed on Sunday May 17, to an overflow crowd. Band members are Susan Firor, Lenny Johnson, Stu Osborne, JD Wulfhorst, and Tim Kinkeade. They played inside for awhile and moved outside for additional crowd-pleasing favorites. What a concert!

The winner of our first fiddle contest was Melissa Wilson. Her brother, Ben Wilson, accompanied her. She could really make the fiddle sing.

Arvid and Jessy Lunden played at our second Swedish Midsummer Festival on June 21. They played traditional Scandinavian Music with wonderful stories between songs.

It rained, but in true Swedish spirit we had a great time and lots of extra Swedish cookies, cakes and lots of good hot coffee with blue or white sky, depending upon what tarp you were standing under. A simply marvelous maypole was decorated and set up. Rain could not stop True Swedes from dancing. So Cam and Jeanette Johnston danced around the Maypole

Harry Wells played hymns by request on the pump organ at our Salad and Dessert Potluck concert on July 19. Living up to a long Swedish Lutheran tradition, there was a lot of good food and leftovers. With pedals flying and keys smoking, Harry brought out the best in the 1883 organ and did not miss a beat when it came to playing a requested song.

Nice day for the potluck and concert.

Gefilte Trout preformed klezmer music on August 30. Members of the band are Bill Voxman on clarinet, Lisa Kreiger on banjo and guitar, Carla Chandler on fiddle, Greg Donohoe on mandolin and bass and Bill Thompson on guitar. The church was packed and we had overflow in the lawn. What fun music to have at the historic church to close our concert series for 2009.
